Congrats to the Viennese – according to a recent report done by Mercer, Vienna, Austria ranks as the number one city in the world for quality of living!

In order to come to this conclusion, Mercer researched such things like health and climatic concerns – serious political turmoil, increasing unrest and instability – and infrastructure – based on electricity supply, water availability, telephone and mail services, public transport provision, traffic congestion and the range of international flights from local airports.

Another interesting aspect is that all of the 215 cities that were taken into account, they are all ranked based on New York City, which has a score of 100. (Vienna got a 108.6 to give you perspective.)

Some of the other top ranking cities are Zurich and Geneva, Switzerland, Vancouver, Canada, and Auckland, New Zealand.  The top US city in the infrastructure category is Washington, DC, thankfully. Singapore, Singapore is first in the world when only taking into account infrastructure.
