Last month we’ve asked you to take part in our travel photo of the year 2010 photo competition. We were looking for a travel photo that would capture the “travel spirit” the best.

A few days ago the jury got together at the tripwolf office in Vienna and clicked through hundreds of photos to choose a winner.

We’re proud to present our Photo of the year 2010 on the tripwolf blog. Our user sve is the lucky winner with the photo she took in Egypt on the back of a camel:

On the back of a camel in Marsa Alam, Rea Sea, Egypt

Congrats, sve!

Moritz Schell, a professional photographer, who was part of the jury alongside of the singer Coshiva and tripwolf CEO Sebastian Heinzel, explained to us why the photo won: “Perfect composition, matching colors, it captures the dynamic of traveling, the camels and the desert are both old symbols of traveling and the western tourists as dark shadow on the sand add (even if most likely not intentional) a sociocritical element to the picture”

Coshiva, singer of the hit Butterfly” and keen traveler herself thinks that, “the picture really gets you in the mood for traveling!” and is looking forward to her next trip, which will take her to India.

Sebastian Heinzel, CEO of tripwolf about the photo: “Among all entries, this is the one that convinced me the first time I saw it: it instantly makes you feel like you’re right there in the desert!”

Those 9 pictures also made it into the Top 10:

Wow, talk about some winners! Fantastic photos, contributers. The Red Sea, Egypt one is amazing… the capture of the red in the middle of that? Timing is impeccable. The early morning shot in India is very moody and tangible…canvas wallhanger for sure. But the Glen Canyon Dam catches my eye the most. Wonderful, all.
