The hostel chain wombats CITY HOSTELS has accommodations in Munich, Berlin, and Vienna.

The opening of a new hostel right on Vienna’s Naschmarkt makes quite a statement. Finding a really good hostel is often a bit of a challenge. Anyone who has shared a 9-bed dorm room on the coast of eastern Australia with 8 smelly surfer dudes (sadly, a true story!) knows what I’m talking about. It’s almost unbelievable to be able to stay inexpensively in an ideal atmosphere!

We got a sneak peek at the renovations in the stately old edifice. The hostel near U4 station Kettenbrückengasse is situated across from the beautiful Jugendstil buildings that make the Naschmarkt such a magical destination. The Naschmarkt in Vienna is known for exotic wares and foods and a lively coffeehouse and party-like atmosphere (for instance, in September the hip new club “Market” opened its doors).

Neni and Deli are fantastic for breakfast or brunch, and every now and then the two locations also feature exquisite sampling and DJ beats . The same is true of Cafe Drechsler, a beloved Vienna coffeehouse that also provides all party animals with a delicious breakfast in the early morning hours. (Note that alcohol is not served after 6 am, so those hoping to have a beer with their scrambled eggs should pop in earlier.) Incidentally, on the first Saturday of every month Thomas De Martin and El Segundo broadcast their radio program “Late Checkout” from the Drechsler.

The new wombats CITY HOSTEL at Naschmarkt has more than 35 double rooms and 88 beds in their dorms that fit between 3 and 8 guests (making your stay as cheap as €10 a night!). Wifi access is in the lobby, and the breakfast area is at your disposal. Other nice features for the hostel-savvy backpacker – there are two elevators, a guest kitchen, and it’s open 24 hours, and included in your payment is a welcome drink in the house bar!
All prices per person and night include all taxes, linen, welcome drink, and wombat’s city map. Towels are not included.
All you can eat breakfast buffet: €3,70 (about $5!)
