When it gets warm, Berlin moves closer to the water. The Spree becomes the living room of the city, at the canal and the lakes party people meet with the Prenzlauer-Berg family. What idyll. We have compiled the top five water areas in the city. Attention – the following hotspots might create an acute desire for a city break to Berlin!

Club der Visionäre: Under the trees on couches, on wooden planks on the water or with pizza in your hand on benches – in the small Club der Visionäre ideas were definitely already born, which reconciled the sun-weary heads with the world. The evenings are full, the DJs are great. During the day it’s much more relaxed, perfect for an afternoon drink. The cool kids come with a boat.

Ankerklause: No one can really describe what makes the charm of this pub on the Landwehr Canal. The inside is a bit too dark, a bit ironic and decorated to nautical, music from the jukebox and geraniums on the balcony. Nevertheless, you always feel comfortable here, and it’s nice to sit on the balcony and watch tourist boats and swans pass by. Covered with plastic in winter, but when the tarps are aired at Ankerklause, everyone knows that summer is on its way. Tip: Order Cheeseburger with Potato Twisters and the day is yours.

Krumme Lanke: Many lonely shore areas and trees spread shady sea romance. If you seariously want to bathe in the sun, you’ll have to change your location quite frequently. Otherwise the lake convinces through nature rather than a big-city flair. As the “Freie Universität Berlin” is close by, you meet a lot of students here.

Badeschiff: A pool in the middle of the Spree, a beach with beach chairs, a bar, beautiful people. Probably the hippest swimming trip to the city. Open from eight o’clock in the morning, in the evenings there are concerts and parties.

Pfaueninsel: The island Havel on the outskirts of Potsdam is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is ideal to get away from the glittering city bustle. Landscaped gardens, 400 year old oak trees, strutting peacocks and a white castle. Nothing needs to be added to this.
