Introducing Tala – the newest member of the tripwolf pack

Eat Howl Travel. We are actually expecting to add a few new real human offspring in the upcoming months in the big tripwolf family, but we couldn’t resist this little fellow, who we met at our last tripwolf office adventure that led us to the Wolfscience park in Lower Austria.

Tala is a gorgeous wolf puppy, just 4 months old! She was born in the wild wild west of the United Stated and immigrated early in life from the Minnesota Wildlife Connection center to the Tierpark Ernstbrunn, only 40km from the tripwolf head quarters in Vienna. Her brother Amarok joined her on her journey across the big pond.

She loves to show up in public, as long as there is food around.  She sleeps in the shadow of the trees and already howls a bunch!

We’ve just updated our iPhone and Android apps – aside from the few minor updates and bug fixes, there is a new feature that we are particularly pleased to mention:

The tripwolf travel blog can now be accessed in our mobile travel guides!

Now, relevant travel stories from the tripwolf blog are integrated into specific city and country guides. This feature is available in 5 languages (just like our blog, of course!)  Here’s where you’ll find the travel stories in your apps:

There you’ll find all the relevant titles and insider travel tips for the location:

On another note: Wikitravel travel information in the app

In addition to our tripwolf travel guide information, we’ve recently integrated info from Wikitravel into our apps.  If you’re going somewhere we haven’t written about yet, you’ll still be able to find what you need!

We hope you enjoy the new features and of course we are always open to your feedback / suggestions / wishes.  Send us an email at support@tripwolf.com

Happy travels,

Your tripwolf team

With the launch of the mobile travel app for Tropical Tourism North Queensland (TTNQ) we’re now not only a mobile and online travel guide but also a provider for white label solutions for mobile travel guides. For TTNQ we’ve partnered up with our friends over at TourRadar, who have added their tour data and Facebook apps to the package.

The TTNQ White Label Travel App by tripwolf.

The TTNQ White Label Travel App by tripwolf.

TTNQ App

The TTNQ app is now available in the iTunes store and features up to date information from local tour operators, hotels and sights. The app was built to help travelers not only find their way around this region but to help them plan what they’d like to do and see while they’re there.  The Cairns & Great Barrier Reef mobile apps also pull some of their content from the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW).

White Label Solutions

tripwolf is offering different kinds of white label solutions, each fitted to the needs of our customers. We’re using the technology that we used for building our own tripwolf travel app, but we can adapt the app to the needs of the tourism organization.

Kicking Off The First Travel Massive in Vienna

Last night TourRadar and tripwolf hosted the first Travel Massive Vienna event.  It was a great night and a success worth repeating soon!

When we started announcing the event a few weeks ago people where often surprised by the lack of any set schedule or organized talks.  But with a drink in your hand and lots of interesting people from the industry to talk to, the night turned into a great networking get together.

Drinks, a great place and fun people.

The Travel Massive Vienna crowd chatting away over a few drinks.

Old and new faces

One of the best things about networking events is putting faces and names together.  Twitter handles and facebook profile pictures coming together in a live person in front of you!  For me personally it was great to have such a wide mixtures of bloggers, journalists, pr people, and other travel startups in one place. There where even hotel guests who joined us for a bit, after hearing we where doing an event in the tourism industry – they turned out to be working in the same industry in Spain!  I found myself talking about the use of Twitter hash tags one minute and about mobile apps the next. Some of the most creative in the crowd even came up with a revolutionary idea: the Spondola. (You’ll need to join us for the next Travel Massive Vienna if you’d like to fine out more about this…) Read More »

World Travel Market – Tips and Tricks for Next Year

Filed under Inside Tripwolf, London, Travel Apps, travel writing

World Travel Market has come to a close here in London and I have heaved a huge sigh of relief. As I told you two weeks ago, I attended the 4-day conference-cum-fair-cum-travel-wonderland for the first time this past week, and wow. It was a real eye-opener, in some good ways and some bad. First, and perhaps best, it was a wonderful reminder about how big and incredible our world is and how much of it there is to see. It was also a great reminder that the travel industry is alive and well and doing all it can (as far as I can see) to help people travel better, greener and more aware.

For me as a writer, it was also a tad frustrating. I come from a writer’s background, meaning I can be a little bit shy, reserved and, just generally fare better with the written word than the spoken one. And World Travel Market is all about networking, meeting people and generally being a gutsy good talker. Try sticking a timid, better-on-paper writer in a room with thousands upon thousands of easy-talking PRs and travel agents, and, well, the results can be mixed.

Whatever my personal experience, though, I certainly learned a few tips and tricks that I’d like to pass on to any bloggers or writers out there thinking of going to next year’s WTM. Read More »

tripwolfing it at World Travel Market

World Travel Market is one of the biggest travel industry events in the world. Held each year in London, the market is one huge conference where travel agents, journalists, tourism boards, websites and governments come together to discuss, debate and connect on all things travel. I am rather ashamed to say that, prior to this year and my recent move to London, I had never heard of World Travel Market before, but I am so excited to be going this year!

I’ll be attending this year’s World Travel Market, which is held November 7-10 at ExCeL London, as a jogger (journalist-blogger) on all four days. The first couple of days, I’ll be taking the chance to meet with as many tourism boards, travel agencies and PRs as I possibly can, as well as attending several tweetups, such as the lovely Visit Florida tweetup (@VFWTM #VFWTM) at stand number NA300 on Tuesday from 12-3pm. They’re going to have free wifi and outlets at their stand, as well as the chance to meet the people from Visit Florida and learn about potential blogging trips and other interesting things about the Sunshine State.

The Best Travel App now has Subway Maps

Filed under Inside Tripwolf, Travel Apps, Travel Tips

The latest in app news:  Our travel apps for the iPhone and Android, which are already known for great offline maps and Augmented Reality, can now help you get around underground.  We’re announcing today the availability to download subway maps for major cities!
Download the Anroid app, free

Download the iPhone app, free

Along with that, we’ve got even more helpful travel info.  For points of interest where we don’t have the best user content we’re integrating info from Wikipedia.  This info will also be available offline (doing as much as we can to save you money and time abroad!) so as you walk around with your map, (looking not like a tourist but like a suave local checking your text messages) you’ll be able to click on the places on your map, and get all the info right there, for free, without roaming or needing WiFi.

The update is live now ~ download or update your app for free!
